For information on when you should use the Disk Tools disk and how you should use the included programs, please refer to the user’s guide that came with your Macintosh or PowerBook computer.
The System 7 Pro Disk Tools disk includes Apple HD SC Setup 7.2.2 and Disk First Aid 7.2. If the copy of Disk Tools that came with your Macintosh or PowerBook contains earlier versions of Apple HD SC Setup and Disk First Aid, be sure to use the versions that are on this disk.
• If you have one of the following Macintosh or PowerBook models, you can use the System 7 Pro Disk Tools disk to start up your computer:
Macintosh SE, SE/30, Classic, Classic II, II, IIx, IIcx, IIfx, IIci, IIsi, LC, LC II, or Portable
Macintosh Quadra 700, 900, or 950
PowerBook 100, 140, or 170
• If you have another model of Macintosh or PowerBook computer, use the System 7 Pro Disk Tools disk to update the Disk Tools disk that came with your computer. Follow these steps:
1. Make a backup copy of the Disk Tools disk that came with your computer.
2. Make sure that the System 7 Pro Disk Tools disk is locked.
3. Make sure that the Disk Tools disk that came with your computer is NOT locked.
4. Put the Disk Tools disk that came with your computer in the floppy disk drive of your computer.
5. Throw away the Apple HD SC Setup and Disk First Aid files.
6. Copy the Apple HD SC Setup and Disk First Aid files from the System 7 Pro Disk Tools disk to the Disk Tools disk that came with your computer. If you see a message that there is not enough room on the disk, copy only one of the files. Then make another floppy disk with the same System Folder and copy the other file.
You can now use the updated Disk Tools disk to start up your computer.
